For Eternity
Hi, new world,
Pretend my name is John
It is prettier this way,
You would give me your hand had I been born on this land,
and if only I had my eyes with the color of the sky.
Through the waves of despair, we’ve arrived.
New land, so shining and filled with dreams when we were on the other side
But I do not understand
And I’m just a kid
Such a different reality
Here there’s just a sky with dark clouds,
Where’s the sun they promised me?
The rain soaks my bones,
and the snow freezes my mind,
Mom, do not cry, I’m still here
I know you’re strong
Hold me in your arms and do not fear
Do not fear
Do not fear
But they didn’t let us cross
They threw us back on that boat
And mom just begged on her knees
Please let us stay here, I have nowhere to go.
Who’s the tall white guy? He looks so different from us.
