If you are a linguist or someone willing to learn a language and have done some research online, you may have come across sites like italki, Preply, where you have private lessons with tutors, like me.
I started on Preply on January 18 with no expectations, and I had even forgotten the website’s name when I got a student saying I hadn’t shown up for a class.
I was surprised. Wait, was that for real? However, that message had not been enough to wake me up to a new reality that would change my life. In January 2018, my mind focused on opening my tutoring center, which I talked about here, not in a virtual world. Had I known that this would be possible, I probably would not have opened a tutoring center at all.
As you can see, I only started taking the virtual world seriously in September 2018, when, still with my old Toshiba computer, I started teaching English to Brazilians and Portuguese. The Portuguese were rare, ignorant about the online world, and the Brazilian market was more significant.
