It's so insane that you say she makes 85thousand dollars a year and yet she needs to borrow money. In Portugal, making 10k per year would be considered middle classe. Yes, we are not the most supper rich. But if you lived with 2K a month you would be rich. I mean you would live very comfortable, and for us living comfortable means, having a house, having time for our family, buying healthy food and be happy, that's it. One of these days my husband forgot the keys of our apartment outside the door, and we slept the whole night like that. Nothing happened, the keys remained there the whole time. This is the feeling of safety of living in Portugal, especially where I live more in the countryside. Nobody knows anyone who owns guns, there's no feeling of being afraid or of feeling insecure. If I had kids and I were american, I would be leaving now.
