Man Invented a Tyrant God and Then Feared Him

God created the earth in six days, and on the seventh day, he rested. And within his creations, he created mankind. But what if it was the other way around?

Immortality. Possibly the greatest desire of humans, or were not death the greatest of mysteries. But, not having reached that status yet, only prolonging the suffering of life — yes, sometimes living is tiring — accepting that we have finitude is one of the greatest problems of philosophy and of mankind.

That’s why humanity has always tried to give meaning to this thing called life, creating Gods or only one God in order to be able to rest in peace, knowing either that there is life after being devoured by the earth or else to understand why we live.

To dwell on this theme is to remain here talking for eternity. But religion, the subject that most divides humans, although violent, is equally fascinating if only to see the countless debates of the defenders and the attackers.

One such debate revolves around many people asking atheists how they can act without having God in their lives. Pathetic, isn’t it? Once again, as I wrote before, it seems to be very difficult for humans to act correctly because morality dictates so; instead, they invent God to be able to have supposedly upright conduct in the eyes of a being that in monotheistic religions seems more like a diabolic figure than a divine one.

Paraphrasing Saramago, “the bible is a book of bad habits.” The man had, in fact, a good point here, because a castrating God who orders Abram to kill his only son, Isaac, only to fill his ego because he wants to be admired, is a too vain and arrogant God for my taste…

Not to mention the thousand and one tests God did to his faithful to see if they respected him and kissed his divine feet. He did it with Job, testing his patience and filling him with countless diseases; he flooded the whole earth saving only a family of lunatics who admired him; he killed the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah, including innocent children who had no idea about what the hell was happening, and he also killed those who dared to look back to see the destruction of the city, by turning them into…
