Who am I to correct a native speaker when English is not even my native language? Yes in Portugal there is a lot of ideas happening around the fact that correct students and encourage them to speak properly is seen as an oppression. It isn’t. We lived 48 years of fascism… now that’s oppression. And I belong to a party from the left, this doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to criticize some of the most strange ideas.
