Unveiling the ugliness: A critique of contemporary seventh art
Pseudo-intellectuals have managed to ruin the beauty of art.
In childhood, this disaster was more limited to modern art museums, paintings, sculptures, and exhibitions that made no sense of being. The so-called contemporary art puts us, mere mortals, in a position to feel stupid for not being able to understand strange lines on a canvas or blurred paintings.
More remotely, one could see all scholars debating over a urinal signed by a famous artist in the early days of this phenomenon.
Or later, the wonderment over the painter who, with his tricycle, would let paint drop onto a massive canvas as if it were excremental droppings.
They started calling this art.
They started consigning it as had been done for centuries, as high culture, in clear opposition to low culture, the latter aimed at the illiterate and those without refined tastes.
As always, a convoluted designation, deliberately made to separate the elite from the rest of the population. But if they like to talk so much about attacks on art, then this was an attack on our common humanity, which so much needs beauty and harmony to…
